Weekend Trip to Intramuros

Tuesday, May 25, 2010
You know what, when I first arrived Manila, I told my colleagues that I want to visit some nice historical buildings here, and asked for recommendations. Everyone told me that I should give this place a try.

So, ehem, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, today I am gonna be your tourguide to the oldest district of Manila, which named "Intramuros", featuring the Spaniards environment.

Intramuros was built by the Spaniards in the 16th century during the Spanish colonial peroid. In Latin, Intramuros means "inside the wall", implies that the fortress is surrounded by walls, to protect themselves from attacks.

Referring to the history of Phillipines, you would realise that Pinoy has a really close relationship to the Malays from Malaysia and Indonesia. But they are more towards multiculturalism, due to the intermarriage among the difference races especially the Spaniards, Japanese, and Americans that had once ruled this piece of land, and also, the Koreans and Chinese that migrated over here. And because of that, some of the Filipinas have really nice features inherited from different races.

Opsss, all these information makes me really sound like a tourguide huh? Nah, there are a lot more to master before I am qualified, haha! Let's cut the crap and enjoy some nice pictures of this historical district!

To be frank, I haven't finished visiting the district, there are still plenty of places to visit here, such as Fort Santiago, San Agustin Church, Casa Manila, etc. I am gonna visit all these before I mark this district as a visited area.

Flyback

MALAYSIA! Aku tengah dalam perjalanan balik!

Heh, to those who cannot read Malay, it means that "Malaysia, I am on the way back!".

The clock is playing its trick again, ticking like a turtle! Erm, it could be because my heart is beating like a rocket, couldn't wait any longer to go back to meet my family and friends!

That's the consequence of putting the distance on sales in exchange of money. Loneliness is driving me nuts! It is contradicting, when I am in Malaysia, I always want to travel for projects, for business & technical exposures, personal interest in term of travelling around, and also making extra money! When I am onshore, I miss Malaysia so much. Ops, perhaps I should say that it is the people over there that counts!

I can't deny that there are plenty of nice & friendly people here, but after all we have different background & culture, there is somehow a gap between us, even we tried hard to mix around. And usually local people are not keen to travel around the country anymore, that's the difference with my USA trip last year, where there were colleagues from Argentina and Spain who were keen to travel in the States with me. The good thing is that I actually have a KL colleague coming with me, but the sad thing is that he is too homely, he doesn't like to travel around or go out for a drink.

Four months is gonna be tough without travel mate or outing mate. I was planning to visit some countries nearby, but then I think I have to travel alone, something which I really don't like to do. :(

Let's put the long & old grandmother story aside, I am gonna share more to you guys in real life soon!

The next exciting thing is that...

I have bought you guys the nice 7D Dried Mango! Hehe, okay, I know it is sold in Malaysia too, but that's the most famous thing here, what to do? Haha... Imagine that all these are heavy and I have to carry it for about 5km, just for you people's sake! Touch leh, nyek nyek!

Okies lar, lastly, in order to redeem your souvenir, give me a call tomorrow, 19th May, and meet me up for a drink in the nite, I will be in Mid Valley City I believe. I am very sorry but that's my only available slot during the flyback.

See yall soon!

Manila Bay

Thursday, May 13, 2010
You guys must be wondering someone like me, that can't even swim, would actually like to go to the seaside or a beach.

Basically, there are 2 reasons. First and foremost, as you guys know, I like to snap photos. Everywhere I had been to, there are photos, as a way to keep them in my memory. And secondly, I like to sit by the seashore, with light wind, and recall some bygone memories, be it happy or sad ones.

That's how I got hooked up with seaside.

Well, that's not the main attraction of this post. Here we go, the nice pictures taken at Harbour Square that is located along Manila Bay. A nice place with some bars and restaurants, and cafe too!

Chinese has a saying that, dawn is the best moment of the day, with such a nice scene, but it fades in only a couple of minutes, implies that good thing doesn't stay long

I somehow fall in love with this place, despite of the filthy water. The best thing to do here is to sit down in a cafe, order a cup of coffee, or beer, or cocktail (I picked this!), and enjoy the nice scenery of sunset.
